Our canned food drive ends on Wednesday, December 18th! Please send in any non-perishables!
Math: We took our chapter 5 test today and the student blew me away! I'm so impressed by how much they learned about place value during this chapter. We will enjoy 3 days of reviewing what we have learned this year so far with Christmas themed activities! Homeroom: We have time for 2 more countries to visit in our "Holidays Around the World" unit! We have homeroom for all of school on Friday and it is a half day (students are out at 12:45). Parents are invited to come watch the students in their Holiday Sing-Around from 8:15-9:15. We hope to see some of you there!

CANNED FOOD DRIVE started this week for 2nd grade! Please donate to any 2nd grade class, cans, boxed food, or other non-perishables from December 9th-18th!
Math: We will be wrapping up chapter 5 this week. The class is flying through this place value chapter. I'm hopeful that we can get through all the lessons so we can review by Friday. Our review game day is all of our favorite day! Homeroom: Last week we were able to make our suitcases and passports and got to India! This week we started in the Netherlands and still have 2 more countries to visit! Hello! I am in need of a parent volunteer to come in on Friday, December 13th for Fun Friday! If you are interested in taking this spot, please email me ASAP!
Math: We started chapter 5 today and the students are already doing great with place value! I'm challenging them with understanding multiplication as well. Homeroom: We are starting our unit on world celebrations this week! Students will be "traveling the world" to see how different countries and cultures celebrate Christmas! Math: This week we are wrapping up our subtraction chapter so we can take the chapter test on Monday. Next Tuesday (11/26) we do not have math because we have an in school field trip where the aquarium is coming to present to the homeroom classes all afternoon.
Homeroom: We are continuing to learn about Native Americans this week. Next Tuesday (11/26), our homeroom class has the aquarium coming to visit our room. We will have homeroom all afternoon instead of also having math. Math: We are diving deep into subtraction this week. Students are learning about T-O charts and regrouping with 2 digit numbers. Ask your child to explain how to do a problem and see how much they have already learned! Since this is our first bigger 2nd grade hurdle, we are talking a lot about growth mindset and the learning pit.
Homeroom: We are starting to learn about Communities and Native Americans this week! Students also created flier for our upcoming Food Drive! We are voting on which one to send out to the school in the next couple weeks. More info will be posted soon! I hope Halloween and your long weekend was a blast!
Math: This week we are jumping into subtraction. We will be subtracting larger numbers and using what we learned in our last chapter to be able to regroup to subtract. Homeroom: We only have homeroom twice this week because of rotations, an assembly, and Fun Friday. Would anyone be interested in me sending home somethings to be cut out for volunteer hours? If you're interested, just send me an email and I'll send home the papers with your child tomorrow! Happy Halloween week! We have Literacy Night tonight (Monday) at 6:00, early out on Thursday, and no school on Friday!
Math: We are taking quite a few tests this week before Halloween! I love to give my students a break after tests with some simple math games and coloring pages. So don't think they are slacking, because they are putting all their brain power into these tests! Homeroom: Students have homeroom all day on Halloween. Check out the Wednesday Note from WPA that has all the details about the parade in the morning. Our class party is from 11:15-12:30 and school is out at 12:45. Thank you to the volunteers who have offered to help! This week we have 2 early out days. I only have parent teacher conferences on Monday unless you have reached out through email. I’m still happy to meet next week if you would like to! I hope you all enjoy fall break and get some much needed rest.
Math: Thank you for signing up for Parent Teacher Conferences. I am excited to talk to each of you and show your child’s awesome progress! This week I only see math students for 1 hour each day and they have earned an art project. I’m excited to reward them with some fun activities! Homeroom: We had a blast on the field trip last week! I was thrilled that the students loved the pumpkin patch and that it wasn’t too cold to enjoy. We will be painting and sending home our pumpkins after fall break! I also sent home little papers that allow your student to receive free admission to the pumpkin patch if your family returns this season. Field Trip to the Pumpkin Patch on Thursday! Please have your student wear comfortable walking shoes and winter clothes because the forecast is showing that it will be very cold and we are walking. Also, please make sure to sign up for MATH and LITERACY teachers for Parent Teacher Conferences. Do not worry about signing up for Homeroom unless you have serious concerns.
Math: We took the chapter 2 test today and will be starting chapter 3 tomorrow. Students did remarkably well as a whole on the test. I'm excited to dive into adding 2 digit numbers and regrouping. Homeroom: We are finishing up learning about weather this week! Please make sure to sign reading logs and send them back to school so your student can sign up for Fun Friday! If you are interested in signing up for Fun Friday as a parent volunteer, I have an opening for a parent to host this Friday! Just send me an email! |
